The Dan Poets are one of Australia's oldest continuous poetry readings - every Saturday since 1994 we've met at the Dan O'Connell Hotel in Carlton to perform poems, share stories and songs, have a beer or two, a friendly heckle and have lots of banter after over a hearty pub meal. It's been a proud 26 year history. We had big plans for this year, big plans which have unfortunately been totally derailed by the COVID-19 crisis and resulting quarantine. Movement is restricted, pubs and cafes across Australia have been shut down, and gatherings of above two people have been barred. But while physical readings at the pub have been temporarily halted, the poetry never stops. This page will become the home-away-from-home for our large family of poets - and what a family it is! The Dan has had readers from across Australia and across the world visiting and taking part in features. We've had sound poets, concrete poets, spoken word artists, theatre artists, book launche...
