Tanta-, by Derek O'Rourke

In my past lives,
those
that i am living now,
the waters ebbed
and the tree branch rose.

I grasped
an air of comedy
to avert the knives
from insulting me.
Who knows

when to reach or when
to watch,
when the fruit finally gives,
the waters touched.
Death, i suppose.
